About

Photorealistic 3D visualisation of electric violin Yamaha YEV-104. This musical instrument is a combination of classical and modern elements. Together they create a unique futuristic design.

Creation Process

Take a look at details of each step during the research, prototype and final rendering phase.

The first step was grouping product photographs and references for the small parts and mechanisms. Tuning pegs, the direction of winding the strings with the fixing detail and tensioning of the strings, called the "tail". We used all these references in 3D modelling.
After several versions, we have reached the final pose, which highlighted the violin's elegant design the most. We have modified the model, so that it can be used on the web as well. When optimising, we aimed to make it work as smooth as possible in the web interface, while maintaining the maximum possible detail level.
The results are renders, that replace product photographs in the presentation for customers on the web, and the interactive 3D model with the ability to rotate, change colours or zoom in on the product details.

Colour variations

One of the advantages of the 3D model is the ability to quickly change colours and materials with an instant preview of the identical camera angle. Therefore, choosing a colour variation becomes engaging for the customer.

3D or Photography

The 3D model can be almost like reality, without recognition. Also, when creating a 3D model, we are not limited by the camera's position, lighting or surroundings. The advantage is the possibility of interaction between abstract elements and the product. The exact repetition of the image after making any changes is a significant advantage as well.

3D modelling reduces the time and eliminates technical complications associated with cameras' preparation, proper lighting, and costs for an atelier.
